Materials & Craft

What Goes Into
Every Piece

Thoughtfully chosen fibers, wood, rods and hours of skilled handwork. No shortcuts, no mass production, no decorative imitation.

Crafted with Intention

Every piece by Lale Studio & Shop begins with material choices that shape not only the look of the work, but also its weight, texture, depth and presence within an interior. We work mainly with wool and wood, and in selected pieces also use cotton, acrylic, bamboo rods or metal rods depending on the composition, finish and way of display.

These choices are never accidental. They are part of what gives each tapestry its atmosphere, structure and lasting character.

Handwoven, Not Machine Made

Every tapestry by Lale Studio & Shop is woven by hand in our workshop in Trzebinia, Poland. The process is slow, tactile and highly physical. It requires time, control and thousands of individual passes of thread to build the final depth, rhythm and surface of the piece.

This is not decorative printing on canvas and it is not factory made textile imitation. It is real woven wall art with relief, softness and a material presence that changes with light and rewards a closer look.

Why Material Matters

The materials in a tapestry are never just technical components. They define how the work feels, how it hangs, how it catches light and how it lives inside a room. At Lale Studio & Shop, wool and wood remain the foundation of most pieces because they bring warmth, authenticity and lasting value.

In selected works we also use cotton, acrylic, bamboo rods or metal rods when the composition calls for a particular structure, softness, contrast or way of display. Every choice is made consciously and in service of the final character of the piece.

How a Piece Comes to Life

01

Design and Preparation

Each work begins with composition, color direction and careful preparation of the loom, fibers and supporting elements.

02

Hand Weaving

The tapestry is built row by row by hand, with close attention to rhythm, structure, density and tactile relief.

03

Finishing and Mounting

Depending on the piece, it is prepared for its final presentation in a solid wood frame or on a bamboo or metal rod.

04

Inspection and Packaging

Before shipping, every work is carefully checked, finished and packed with the same attention given during creation.

Our Materials

Wool

Our main fiber, chosen for its warmth, resilience, natural richness and beautifully tactile surface.

Cotton

Used in selected works to introduce softness, contrast or a lighter structural balance within the weave.

Acrylic

Included in selected pieces when a specific tone, texture or structural effect is needed within the composition.

Solid Pine

A warm and natural framing material, available in natural or walnut stained finishes.

Solid Oak

A heavier premium hardwood with refined grain and a more architectural presence.

Bamboo Rods

Used for hanging style works where a softer, more organic and relaxed presentation is desired.

Metal Rods

Used in selected works when a cleaner, more defined or more architectural hanging detail is preferred.

Hand Painted Base

Some pieces include a painted textile base, adding another layer of depth, tone and individuality.

The Beauty of Natural Variation

Because every piece is made by hand and created with real materials, slight variations in texture, rhythm, tone and structure are part of its authenticity. These nuances are not flaws. They are the signature of real craftsmanship and what makes each work feel alive and one of a kind.

What Makes It Different

  • Handwoven construction rather than printed or factory made decorative imitation
  • Real fibers and solid wood rather than lightweight synthetic surfaces and board based substitutes
  • Three dimensional texture rather than a flat decorative surface with no tactile depth
  • One of a kind character rather than endless repetition and identical mass produced copies
  • Made by named artisans rather than anonymous large scale production
  • Created to last with materials and craftsmanship chosen for presence, durability and long term value

Made to Be Felt, Not Just Seen

A woven artwork brings something into a space that printed decor never can. Depth. Softness. Material presence. Quiet luxury. It changes with light, invites closer attention and carries the unmistakable character of something made by hand.
